Lakeshore United FC offer numerous programs throughout the course of a year. These are typically a series of weekly or bi-weekly events such as practices, clinics, and/or games where players make a committment for a several weeks or up to a full year. For the 2019-20 season, LUFC Programming includes: Jr Stars, Academy, Recreation, Select, Futsal, and TOPSoccer.
The Juniors Program is a fun, 5-session program held each spring and fall for 4K and 5K players. One of the main goals of the Juniors Program is to provide a safe, inclusive, and structured play so that our youngest athletes can be encouraged and grow in their first organized soccer experience.
The LUFC Academy Program is designed for youth that want to play soccer more often and throughout the year All teams in this 8U-10U program (typically 1st-3rd grade) are trained by professional and licensed staff coaches. Player development is emphasized to help prepare youth to play more competitively as they get older.
The goals of the Academy Program are to teach and develop the players in a positive, creative, fun and challenging environment. Teams will train in a pool format with smaller, flexible game day rosters to facilitate competition and participation.
Community Soccer Program
The Community Soccer Program is for all area youth from 1st through 8th grade. The purpose of community soccer is to provide and foster organized youth soccer for girls and boys at a fun yet challenging level. The philosophy of our program is to promote participation, emphasize sportsmanship and develop skills with an appreciation for the game of soccer.
The programming year includes both the Fall and Spring sessions for 1st through 8th grade with approximately 16 games total - occurring on Saturday mornings or early afternoons. Teams also get the opportunity to compete in the annual LUFC Community Soccer Tournament.
Community Soccer coaches are all SafeSport certified, and receive support and training from Director of Coaching, Jonathan Greenfield. All coaches have the opportunity to continue their training with sponsored courses from US Soccer and WYSA, which offers licensing programs from Grassroots through Professional.
Lakeshore United FC offers a higher level of competition in its Select Program for U11 - U19 Girls and Boys. Playing on a LUFC Select team requires a year-long commitment by the player and their family. Each team is coached by a USSF/WYSA licensed coach and will receive training led by LUFC’s Director of Coaching, Jonathan Greenfield.
All teams have a mandatory team camp in July or August that stresses LUFC curriculum, philosophies and team building.
Futsal is an exciting, fast-paced small sided soccer game that is played across the world and is officially recognized by both FIFA and UEFA.
Futsal earned the status of FIFA’s official form of indoor soccer in the 1980s as it was recognized as a scaled down version of outdoor soccer played indoors. It is a 5 v 5 small-sided game played on a hard surfaced, basketball sized court with a smaller, low bounce ball. Futsal is played with touchline boundaries and without walls.
Futsal places a large emphasis on technical skill in high pressure situations which can be translated into the outdoor game. The sport is a great skill developer as it demands quick reflexes, fast thinking and pin-point passing.
Futsal is played in all the continents of the world by over 100 countries with 12 million players. Great soccer superstars such as Pele, Zico, Ronaldo, Messi, Kaka and Katia grew up playing the game and credit futsal with developing their skills.
