LUFC Welcomes the Manitowoc Goalgetters

February 29, 2020

Lakeshore United FC (LUFC) is excited to welcome Manitowoc Goalgetters United Soccer Club (GGUSC) to the LUFC Family!

In an effort to grow and develop soccer opportunities along the lakeshore, LUFC and the GGUSC have begun an official affiliation effective Spring 2020. This partnership between communities will help leverage resources for the development of players, coaches, and new programs in both communities.

GGUSC provides a number of soccer programs for the Manitowoc area. From Recreational, Select, Indoor, and Adult Leagues, GGUSC is the home for 300+ soccer players and families.

This spring the Goalgetter United Soccer Club will continue to run the Community Rec Soccer Program that so many in Manitowoc have come to love, and the Select Boys teams will continue to be based in Manitowoc and compete in the East Central Classic and WYSA State Leagues. In addition, Select program participants will now have access to additional opportunities to compete in the Southeast Classic League and the US Youth Soccer Midwest Conference with Sheboygan-based Lakeshore United FC teams.

Over the next 12 months, LUFC and the GGUSC will be working together to establish a new Juniors Program focused on introducing soccer in fun yet structured play (ages 4-8). The clubs will also establish a new youth Academy program (ages 9-10), TOPSoccer clinics for players with special needs (ages 4-18), and host a Stars Skills Camp (ages 5-12) in Manitowoc from June 22-26, 2020.

Lakeshore United FC was formed in 1985 to facilitate the youth soccer experience. It began with recreational teams and has grown into a club that provides youth of all abilities with opportunities to learn, grow, and mature in the sport and life.

With over 1,180 athletes from over 19 communities, LUFC fields over 80 teams throughout the Stars, Juniors, Academy, Community REC, Select and TOPSoccer programs. For those just learning the game to those aspiring to play in college and/or beyond, LUFC provides opportunities for all ability levels of youth ranging from preschool through high school.
